Academic Contributions to SDG: A Course-based Analysis
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These goals are designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all" by addressing various global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice. Here's how the SDGs can be aligned with a university curriculum, specifically the Baku State University (BSU), to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development:
Incorporating SDGs into Course Content: BSU integrates the principles and objectives of the SDGs into the content of its courses across disciplines. For example, economics courses can explore topics related to poverty alleviation (SDG 1) and economic growth (SDG 8), while environmental science courses can focus on issues like climate action (SDG 13) and life on land (SDG 15).
Research and Projects: BSU encourages research and projects that address specific SDGs. Faculty and students work on projects related to sustainable development, such as studying renewable energy technologies (SDG 7), conducting biodiversity research (SDG 15), or analyzing policies for gender equality (SDG 5).

We offer courses and they are linked to officially recognised credits (ECTS).
