An educational training session titled "Autism: Silent Emotions, Infinite Possibilities" was organized by members of the "BSU Volunteers" organization from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology at Baku State University (BSU).
The aim of the training was to foster accurate perceptions of autism among students, enhance their knowledge based on scientific foundations, and teach effective communication strategies for interacting with individuals on the autism spectrum.
The session was led by Lamiya Ahmedli-Shirinova, a PhD candidate from the Department of Psychology, who provided comprehensive insights into Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She discussed the causes of autism, early signs, developmental patterns, and treatment methods. Additionally, she addressed effective communication techniques with individuals with autism, the social challenges they face, and possible solutions to overcome these barriers. The session also highlighted common misconceptions about autism that exist within society.
The event concluded with a Q&A segment, during which students’ questions on the topic were addressed.
