BSU hosts event on “Ecological Terror and the Nature of Karabakh”
30-05-2025

An event titled “Ecological Terror and the Nature of Karabakh” was held at the Faculty of Information and Document Management of Baku State University (BSU). At the event, faculty member Shabnam Alizade delivered a presentation on the topic.

In her speech, Alizade provided detailed information about the ecological terror committed against the nature of Karabakh by Armenian vandals during the occupation period. She emphasized that for many years, in addition to other crimes, the occupying state committed massive ecological crimes on Azerbaijani soil, targeting not only cultural and historical heritage but also the environment:

“During the occupation, acts of ecological terror in Karabakh, including the large-scale destruction of biodiversity and serious violations of international law, were documented. Rare and endangered flora and fauna species in the region were harmed, their natural habitats were destroyed, and in some cases, species were completely eradicated.”

The event also discussed the international investigation of ecological terror committed by Armenia in Karabakh and its surrounding areas, legal accountability of the perpetrators, and the assessment of these crimes through international expert analysis.

It was noted that ecological monitoring and restoration work are currently underway in the liberated territories. These efforts have revealed the deliberate destruction of nature, wildlife, mosques, and historical monuments, once again exposing the true nature of Armenian vandalism:

“Following the historic victory in the 44-day Patriotic War in November 2020, our people have reclaimed their ancestral lands. Today, alongside the unparalleled reconstruction efforts by our strong state in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, our magnificent nature is also reviving and flourishing.”

The event concluded with discussions around the topic.
