Turkology Club at Baku State University

The idea of creating the “Turkology” Club under the Faculty of Philology at Baku State University was proposed during a meeting of the Student Scientific Society (TEC) on April 22, 2020. Mäleykä Mirzəli, a graduate student of the Department of Turkology, highlighted the importance of the initiative and provided detailed information about the structure of the proposed club. After extensive discussions, it was decided to establish the “Turkology” Club with the goal of organizing conferences and seminars dedicated to the current issues in the field of Turkology on a regular basis.

Since its founding, the club has organized numerous scientific conferences and seminars at both national and international levels. Over the course of its two-year activity, the club has hosted significant events, including conferences on topics such as “Common Communication Languages for Turks,” “Endangered Turkic Languages,” “Novruz Traditions among Turkic Peoples,” “Languages of Turkic States,” “Alphabet, the History of Alphabets, and the Alphabets Used in the Turkic World: Objectives, Issues, Solutions,” and “Information about Turkic Peoples in Ancient Chinese Chronicles and the Cross-linguistic Process of Turkic-Chinese Languages on the Silk Road,” among others. Distinguished scholars and prominent Turkologists, such as Prof. Timur Kocaoğlu, Prof. Bilgehan Atsız Gökdağ, Prof. Atilla Jorma, Prof. Süer Eker, Dr. Aqşin Əliyev, and others, have been speakers at these international events.

Currently, the “Turkology” Club is led by Mäleykä Mirzəli, a graduate student from the Department of Turkology. The club continues to play a vital role in advancing research and discussions in the field of Turkology, providing a platform for academic exchange and the exploration of Turkic studies.
