A commemorative event titled “A Bloody Page of History”, dedicated to the 36th anniversary of the 20 January tragedy, was organized by the administration of the Faculty of Geography at Baku State University (BSU) in cooperation with the Student Youth Organization.
The event commenced with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a one-minute moment of silence in memory of the martyrs of 20 January.
Opening the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Geography, Professor Magsad Gocamanov, described the 20 January massacre as one of the most tragic events in the history of the Azerbaijani people. He emphasized that this bloody event demonstrated the unwavering determination of the nation on its path toward freedom and independence, and stated that the heroism shown by the martyrs would never be forgotten. Addressing the students, the Dean underlined the importance of deeply studying these historical events and fostering a spirit of commitment to national and moral values among the younger generation.
The artistic segment of the event featured poems dedicated to 20 January, a video presentation reflecting the трагic события of that night, and a theatrical performance reenacting its painful moments. The artistic compositions created a profound emotional impact on the participants and expressed deep respect for the heroic path of the martyrs.
The commemorative event served as a tribute to the memory of the 20 January martyrs and contributed to strengthening the spirit of patriotism among youth.
