An educational event titled “Cultural Heritage” was held at the Faculty of Information and Document Management of Baku State University (BSU). The event was organized by the Student Scientific Society (SSS) within the framework of activities dedicated to 27 March – Science Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Head of the Department of Document Management at BSU, Associate Professor Nadir Ismayilov, delivered a presentation at the event. In his speech, he emphasized that the preservation and scientifically grounded study of cultural heritage are of strategic importance for modern society. He noted that cultural heritage is not only a historical and cultural value but also an object of scientific research and an important information resource.
Nadir Ismayilov pointed out that documents preserved in archives, libraries, and museum collections play a crucial role in studying cultural heritage and transmitting it to future generations. He also highlighted the special importance of digitalization processes in protecting cultural heritage resources and expanding their accessibility and use. It was underlined that the main purpose of the event was to raise students’ awareness about the tangible and intangible components of cultural heritage, Azerbaijan’s rich historical and cultural heritage examples, and the role of documentary resources in preserving cultural heritage.
Later, Aynur Alasgarova, Chair of the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of Information and Document Management, stated that such educational events significantly contribute to shaping students’ scientific worldview, strengthening a responsible attitude toward cultural heritage, and applying modern scientific approaches in their future professional activities.
