Sustainable Development Goals at Baku State University.

The first stage of the 6th Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad was held on February 1 among 9th–11th grade students of general education institutions.

A total of 2,133 students registered to participate in the olympiad, which was conducted online. According to the decision of the organizing committee, participants who scored 65 points or higher out of 100 qualified for the final stage of the competition. Students who earned the right to compete in the final will receive more detailed information in the coming days.

It should be noted that the winners of the final stage of the 6th Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad will be involved in preparatory training sessions for the 19th International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad, which will be held in Vietnam. The preparation courses will be organized by experts from Baku State University (BSU) and the Republican Children and Youth Development Center, and will take place both at the University and at the Center.

In addition, a one-week summer camp will be organized at the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory for the members of the national team selected for the international olympiad. The Public Union “Amateur Astronomers Society” will also conduct training sessions for school students on the proper use of telescopes. The Azerbaijani team participates in the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad with the support of the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The 6th Azerbaijan Astronomy Olympiad and the preparatory training for the 17th International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad are implemented with the main sponsorship of the Tusi-Bohm Planetarium, the only planetarium in the South Caucasus.
