100 Students Awarded Named Scholarships by the Azerbaijan Education Workers' Free Trade Union Republic Committee

The Azerbaijan Education Workers' Free Trade Union Republic Committee (ATİAHİRK), a member organization of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHİK), has awarded named scholarships to 100 students for their outstanding academic achievements and active participation in the student trade union movement.

Among the recipients were seven students from Baku State University (BSU):

Shukuran Aslanov
Nuray Naghiyeva
Orkhan Asgarli
Nazrin Aghayeva
Aydan Jafarzade
Roya Ashrefova

The award ceremony was attended by the leadership of AHİK and ATİAHİRK, rectors of several prestigious universities, and chairpersons of student trade union committees.

The event commenced with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, followed by the performance of the national anthem.

Speeches by Key Officials

Sahib Mammadov, Chairman of AHİK, highlighted the youth policy initiatives implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized the state’s commitment to fostering patriotism, personal development, and the training of highly qualified professionals among young people. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, noting that under the initiative of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, significant projects in science, education, culture, healthcare, and sports have been successfully implemented.

It was emphasized that AHİK actively supports the state’s youth policy by strengthening social protection, safeguarding labor rights, and enhancing youth potential through various programs and projects. The "Named Scholarship" program plays a crucial role in encouraging students' engagement in science and education while supporting their academic and personal growth.

Yusif Agayev, Acting Rector of the Azerbaijan Academy of Labor and Social Relations, underlined the importance of human capital development as a national priority. He noted that scientific progress and advanced technology present new challenges and opportunities, and initiatives like this scholarship program serve as a strong motivation for students.

BSU Rector Elchin Babayev spoke about Azerbaijan’s growing economic and political influence in the region, emphasizing the role of BSU in shaping young professionals. He stressed the importance of scholarship programs in unlocking students' potential and proposed expanding collaboration with AHİK.

History and Impact of the Named Scholarship

The ATİAHİRK "Named Scholarship" program has been in place since 1995, supporting students from various universities who demonstrate academic excellence and actively participate in student trade union activities. To date, 3,079 students have been awarded this prestigious scholarship.

In their speeches, the scholarship recipients expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating that the scholarship serves as a strong incentive to achieve even greater academic success and deepens their interest in science and education.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the awarded students were presented with certificates and gifts in recognition of their achievements.
