A scientific seminar on "Synthetic Biology" was held at Baku State University's (BSU) Faculty of Biology. Nargiz Garayeva, a second-year student of the "Biotechnology" program, gave an extensive presentation on the essence, applications, and future perspectives of synthetic biology. She stated that scientists are searching for new methods to meet the growing demand for consumer goods without compromising human health. These research areas form the foundation of synthetic biology. Synthetic biology enables the design and reconstruction of new artificial biological pathways, organisms, or devices. The adaptation of molecules and entire microorganisms offers significant opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry, environmental biotechnology, and the production of industrial materials.
Following the presentation, an interactive discussion on the topic was held.
