Baku State University (BSU) has launched a training program on “External Quality Assurance.” The training was held under the leadership of Asiman Ilyasov, Advisor to the Rector on Quality Assurance.

It was noted that BSU has already initiated the international accreditation process for 14 master’s programs, an initiative aimed at strengthening the university’s competitiveness at the international level. During the training, the international accreditation criteria of the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IQAA) of the Republic of Kazakhstan were thoroughly discussed.

The main objective of the training was to examine modern challenges and international practices in quality assurance in higher education institutions, analyze the current situation, and identify future development directions. It was emphasized that quality assurance in higher education is not only a mechanism for measuring the effectiveness of the teaching process, but also a key tool for strategic management of educational institutions, development of the academic environment, and ensuring a student-centered approach.

The training highlighted that quality mechanisms ensuring sustainable development are based on indicators such as regular evaluation of educational programs, optimization of teaching resources, monitoring of student achievements, graduates’ success in the labor market, and active involvement of stakeholders in the process. Within this framework, quality assurance is a comprehensive approach that fosters student satisfaction, effective learning outcomes, and the development of scientific potential.

In his speech, Asiman Ilyasov stressed the growing importance of quality assurance in higher education both nationally and globally, noting that the application of these mechanisms enhances universities’ competitiveness and strengthens their position in the international academic and educational space.

At the conclusion of the training, it was stated that such initiatives at BSU contribute to further strengthening institutional quality assurance, increasing transparency and accountability, as well as promoting sustainable development and innovative approaches.
