Award ceremony for the winners of the III Republic Olympiad among university students held at BSU

At Baku State University (BSU), an award ceremony was held for the winners of the III Republic Olympiad in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography, dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Rector Elchin Babayev spoke about the successful results of the policies implemented in the fields of science and education in Azerbaijan and noted that the Olympiad movement has been expanding year by year. He emphasized BSU’s special role in the country’s political, cultural, scientific, and educational life, highlighting that the university’s world-renowned graduate is the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The rector underlined the significance of participation in the Olympiad for students, stating that it gives a strong impetus to their future achievements: “The number of students participating in the Republic Olympiad is increasing annually. The participation of 15 universities in the Olympiad indicates that we are on the right path.”

In addition to BSU, students from ADA University, Azerbaijan Medical University, Baku Higher Oil School, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Baku Engineering University, Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Khazar University, Western Caspian University, Sumgayit State University, Nakhchivan State University, Ganja State University, and Lankaran State University participated in the Olympiad. A total of 75 students competed in Physics, 54 in Mathematics, 72 in Chemistry, 92 in Biology, and 50 in Geography. The Olympiad aims to further improve the quality of training specialists in these scientific fields in the Republic of Azerbaijan, to identify and support talented students, involve them in scientific research activities, and promote scientific knowledge among students.

Later, BSU’s Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Huseyn Mammadov, announced the winners of the Republic Olympiad. According to the competition results, 30 students became winners: 5 took first place, 10 second place, and 15 third place, while 30 students received encouragement prizes. The winners were awarded diplomas and gifts.

The event concluded with a cultural program prepared by BSU’s Culture and Creativity Center.
