Fourth-year students of the Faculty of Biology at Baku State University (BSU) took part in a comprehensive field practice program in Lankaran, Guba, and Shamakhi.
During the training conducted in the Gizilaghaj State Reserve, Hirkan National Park, the BSU Educational-Training and Recreation Center in Guba, and various areas of Shamakhi district, students carried out detailed observations of vertebrate and invertebrate animals and studied the diversity of local flora and fauna.
In Lankaran, students closely examined the species richness of Gizilaghaj and Hirkan National Parks, learned about the ecological changes in ecosystems caused by increasing anthropogenic impacts in recent years, and collected materials for herbarium preparation.
In Guba, students studied the biodiversity of mountain-forest, meadow, and river ecosystems, focusing on the Qarachay basin and Chenlibel Mountain in Nugadi village. Samples of local flora and fauna were collected, and route-based observations were conducted.
In Shamakhi, the fieldwork continued around the N. Tusi Observatory and along the Shamakhi-Damirchi-Lahij route, where vegetation cover was studied, various biological samples were collected, and both vertebrate and invertebrate species were analyzed.
