BSU biology faculty students visit Azerkosmos

Students from the Faculty of Biology at Baku State University (BSU) embarked on an informative tour to the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, "Azerkosmos," as part of their engagement in the seminar dedicated to the "Year of Green World Solidarity" at the Main Earth Satellite Management Center of "Azerkosmos."

The tour commenced with presentations by Nigar Kazimova, chief specialist of Azercosmos Public Relations, Media, and Communication Department, and Joshgun Garayev, chief specialist of the Antenna and Radio Frequency Group, who provided insights into the agency's operations. Students had the opportunity to explore the satellite operations room and inspect the antenna site facilitating communication with national satellites.

Following this, Saleh Nabiyev, the leading specialist in soil science and land cadastre at the Geographical Information Systems Center of "Azerkosmos," delivered a presentation titled "Data Capabilities of Azerbaijani Satellites in Ecosystem and Biodiversity Management." Nabiyev elaborated on the application potentials of aerospace sensing technologies in biology and ecology, showcasing implemented projects and methodologies.

In the latter part of the info tour, Yusif Abiyev, the deputy dean of the Faculty of Biology for Social Issues and Student Affairs, acquainted the students with the biodiversity of the semi-desert ecosystem and rare plant species.
