BSU debate tournament: Addressing environmental issues for economic growth

The 56th Internal Debate Tournament: Empowering Youth Through Debate on Environmental and Economic Issues was conducted at BSU. Zohrab Javadzadeh, the chairman of BSU THIK (Student Union Committee), emphasized the significant role of debate tournaments in nurturing the communication skills and leadership abilities of young individuals, extending his best wishes to the participants.

Under the theme "Fighting environmental problems contributes to the country's economy," the tournament, organized by the "Debate Club" of the Student Trade Union Committee of Baku State University (BSU), featured group and qualifying matches. Twenty-one teams from the Azerbaijani section and eight teams from the Russian section engaged in discussions for the two-day event, involving around 100 students.

In the final round of the domestic tournament, the teams "Gilas" (Cherry) and "Alcha" (Plum) competed in the Azerbaijani section, while "Söhbət səndən gedir, ömür məndən" (Your Story, My Journey) and "Krasniy Lotos" (Rede Lotos) vied for victory in the Russian section. Ultimately, the "Gilas" and "Krasnyy Lotos" teams emerged as the winners.

The tournament also recognized the top 20 speakers in both sections. Notably, Farid Abbasov, a student from the Faculty of Chemistry, topped the Azerbaijani section with 63.57 points, while Maryam Ibrahimli, representing the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology, led the Russian section with 62 points.
