Baku State University (BSU) Faculty of Biology held a meeting with first-year students.
Dean of the Faculty, Professor Afət Məmmədova, noted that enriching the educational process with modern, practice-oriented, and student-centered methods is one of the main priorities in the new academic year.
She emphasized that students’ knowledge will be further strengthened through practical applications, and spoke about the scientific research activities, international collaborations, and student-focused projects conducted at the faculty. She encouraged students to actively benefit from these resources.
In her speech, the Dean also underlined the special significance of declaring 2025 as the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty,” stating that various scientific-practical events, seminars, and projects will be held in this direction. She stressed the importance of students not only acquiring theoretical knowledge but also developing qualities such as civic position, social responsibility, and commitment to national values.
A presentation video highlighting the history, scientific achievements, and modern development priorities of the Faculty of Biology was then shown.
Heads of departments introduced the structure of curricula, practical components of courses, rules for using laboratories, assessment criteria, and principles of academic integrity. They also shared information about student scientific clubs, industrial and field practices, mentoring systems, career and exchange opportunities, as well as direct communication channels with the dean’s office.
It was noted that 309 students were admitted to the faculty this year. Among them, 4 students scored above 600 points, while 129 scored in the 500–599 range.
