Staff and students from the Faculty of Information and Document Management at Baku State University (BSU) participated in a panel dedicated to the traditional "Library Week," organized jointly by the Information and Document Management departments of Çankırı Karatekin, Bartın, and Kastamonu Universities in Turkey.
The moderator of the event, Professor Coshkun Polat, Head of the Information and Document Management Department at Chankiri Karatekin University, mentioned that the purpose of "Library Week," which has been held in Turkey since 1964, is to raise awareness about library science education and library-information activities, facilitate the exchange of experiences, share ideas, and achieve better results for the development of the field. Professor Polat also highlighted that during the "Library Week," various activities such as excursions to libraries, exhibition halls, and museums, meetings with prominent public figures, and lectures are organized.
Associate Professor Zahida Rzayeva, Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs at the Faculty of Information and Document Management at BSU, presented a report on the topic "Library and Information Infrastructure in Azerbaijan in the Modern Era." The presentation discussed the state policies in this area, key directions in the organization of library and information activities, and planned projects for library construction in the recently liberated territories of Azerbaijan. The lecture also provided comprehensive information about the educational environment in the country, the history and current status of BSU, Azerbaijan's first university, as well as the Faculty of Information and Document Management.
During the event, Professor Hüseyin Odabaş, Vice Rector of Chankiri Karatekin University, Professor Hasan Keseroğlu, Head of the Information and Document Management Department at Kastamonu University, and Associate Professor Ahmet Altay, Head of the Information and Document Management Department at Bartın University, emphasized the growing collaboration between BSU's Faculty of Information and Document Management and Turkish universities specializing in library science, information activities, museums, and archives. They highlighted the joint master classes, lectures, and international scientific conferences organized in recent years and exchanged views on future cooperation prospects.
