21-07-2025

A project submitted by the Faculty of Physics at Baku State University (BSU) has been selected as one of the winners of the “Technology Transfer” program, initiated by the High Technologies Park of the Ministry of Science and Education, in partnership with the Education Development Fund and the SABAH.HUB Innovation Center.

The project was chosen as one of the five winners from a total of 76 submissions. It focuses on the development of high-frequency photodetectors for use in fiber-optic communication technologies. The authors of the project are Professor Ali Huseynov of the Department of Semiconductor Physics, faculty member Fidan Ahmadova, and doctoral researcher Lamiya Balayeva.

The primary objective of the project is to develop ultra-high-frequency, simple-structured, and highly efficient photodetectors used in modern fiber-optic-based information technologies.

The outcomes of this research are of great significance not only in terms of scientific innovation but also in practical application and patent potential. During the project, photodetectors based on new semiconductor materials are planned to be commercialized and widely applied in the field of modern optoelectronics.
