An event titled “Protect the Environment! Take Care of It!” was held at Baku State University (BSU), jointly organized by the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC) members of the Faculties of History and Geology.
Dean of the Faculty of History, Professor Ibrahim Zeynalov, emphasized that environmental issues impact not only the present but also future generations. Approaching the relationship between humans and nature from a historical perspective, he noted that protecting the environment has been a key responsibility of human societies since ancient times. He highlighted the importance of raising awareness among the younger generation as one of the most effective ways to address environmental challenges.
Dean of the Faculty of Geology, Associate Professor Mamoy Mansurov, explained how the geological environment has changed as a result of human activity, using scientific examples. He stated that the efficient use of underground and surface resources, as well as the proper monitoring of geological processes, plays a significant role in maintaining ecological balance. In this context, the sustainable use of natural resources is a crucial factor in addressing environmental problems.
Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Amil Mammadov, gave a comprehensive overview of projects implemented within the framework of environmental policy and stressed the importance of public participation. He stated that the active involvement of civil society in ecological initiatives contributes to the sustainable development of the country.
Lecturer of the Department of General and Historical Geology, Nuraddin Abbasov, explained the connection between natural processes occurring on Earth and current environmental issues.
The event concluded with the screening of an educational video dedicated to environmental protection.
