At the joint initiative of the “BSU Volunteers” organization of Baku State University (BSU) and the Republican AIDS Center under the Ministry of Health, a meeting titled "HIV – The Hidden Enemy" was held with students.
During the session, students were provided with comprehensive information about Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), including their nature, modes of transmission, and methods of prevention. It was emphasized that thousands of people face the risk of contracting HIV and hepatitis every day. Of particular concern is the high probability of simultaneous infection, as the transmission pathways of HIV and hepatitis B and C are largely the same.
The representatives of the Center highlighted the importance of continuous awareness-raising efforts to protect young people from this social threat and to promote a healthy lifestyle. They also stressed the need to uphold national and moral values while informing participants about the symptoms of the virus and modern treatment options.
At the end of the event, voluntary blood samples were collected from students to facilitate initial HIV testing and early diagnosis.
