Fourth-year students from the Faculty of Biology at Baku State University (BSU), specializing in Biology, Water Bioresources, and Aquaculture, participated in a field study experience in the Guba and Lankaran regions.
Biology students received training in identifying insects, mammals, and birds, as well as understanding habitats, food rations, and movement patterns in the Nugadi and Gachrash villages at the Guba Training-Experience and Recreation Center of BSU. In Hirkan National Park, they studied the relict chestnut oak and ironwood forests, examining forest and meadow ecosystems, mountain belts, plant structures, and species classification by dominant and secondary species. They also focused on species listed in the "Red Book" and practiced preparing herbariums using visual samples.
Meanwhile, students majoring in Water Bioresources and Aquaculture gained hands-on experience with freshwater otters in Kyzylagac National Park and studied fish species common to the Caspian Sea, as well as the Valvalachay and Gudyalchay rivers in the Guba region. They conducted laboratory analyses of water and algae samples.
