A scientific seminar was held at the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science of Baku State University (BSU) as part of a series of events dedicated to “Science Day” in the Republic of Azerbaijan on March 27. During the seminar, Akif Valiyev, the Scientific Secretary of the Agricultural Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Doctor of Economic Sciences, delivered a report on "The History of Agricultural Sciences Development in Azerbaijan and Contemporary Issues."
The Dean of the Faculty, Akif Aghbabalı, particularly emphasized the significance of organizing such meetings with students majoring in Soil Science and Agrochemistry and Land Management and Real Estate Cadastre.
Akif Valiyev discussed the history of agricultural sciences development in Azerbaijan, the directions of modern research in this field, the practical significance of the scientific and theoretical results achieved, the contemporary development trends of sectoral scientific research institutes, and the scientific and legal measures being implemented in our country to address existing issues.
The speaker also highlighted the issues set forth in the “State Program for the Great Return to the Liberated Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan (I)”, with a focus on the use of agro-economic and natural resources in the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur economic regions. He spoke about the settlement of these regions, their rich natural and ecological systems, agricultural and land resources, the efficient use of land resources, the formation of agro-industrial complexes, the creation of industrial and agricultural parks, and the development of multi-directional infrastructure and transportation hubs. He provided a scientific-theoretical analysis of the key tasks in the development of projects such as “Smart City,” “Smart Village,” “Smart Agriculture,” “Smart Ecosystem,” and “Smart Transportation System.”
At the end of the seminar, the questions of students were answered.
