Four students from leading higher education institutions of the People’s Republic of China — Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and Sun Yat-sen University — will study at Baku State University (BSU) during the 2025/2026 academic year.

Three of them are students of the Faculty of Asian Studies at BFSU, majoring in “Azerbaijani Language.” According to the university’s academic regulations, students of foreign language majors are required to spend one semester in the country of the language they study during their third year. Within this framework, Azerbaijani Language students will continue their studies for one semester at the Faculty of Philology of BSU. Meanwhile, one student from Sun Yat-sen University will pursue studies at the master’s level this academic year at BSU’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology. The initiative was significantly supported by Dr. Aqshin Aliyev, PhD in Philology, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language at the Faculty of Asian Studies, BFSU.

Rector of BSU, Elchin Babayev, met with the Chinese students and provided detailed information about the university’s academic environment, scientific activities, and student life. The Rector emphasized that students from the People’s Republic of China hold a special place among international students at BSU. Their academic and social issues are constantly in the focus of the university administration, and Chinese students actively participate in the social and cultural life of the university.

At the end of the meeting, the Rector wished the students success and expressed confidence that the knowledge they gained at BSU would play an important role in their future endeavors.
