An event dedicated to "Science Day" in the Republic of Azerbaijan was held at the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science of Baku State University (BSU) on March 27.

In his opening speech, the Dean, Akif Aghbabali, emphasized the significance of establishing "Science Day," noting that, in connection with this remarkable date, a series of events—including scientific conferences, seminars, symposiums, lectures, and roundtable discussions—are organized at higher education institutions and research institutes across the country. This tradition brings together scientists, providing a platform for discussing scientific achievements. He also highlighted the productive scientific activity of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science at BSU in 2024.

Following the Dean’s remarks, the Head of the Department of Ecological Chemistry, Professor Sevinj Hajiyeva, and Professor Shovgi Goychayli from the Department of Geographical Ecology delivered speeches. They discussed the formation and historical development of science and education in Azerbaijan and worldwide, the increasing prestige of science in the country, and the state-level support for the advancement of science and education.

The speakers also emphasized the crucial role of young researchers in scientific progress and expressed their desire for ecological chemistry to develop as one of the fundamental sciences in line with the faculty’s directions. Additionally, they elaborated on the role of the National Academy of Sciences in shaping and advancing Azerbaijani science to its present state.
