The next lecture-concert under the “Gems of Art” project of the Ministry of Culture was held at Baku State University (BSU).

Organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, the 17th Uzeyir Hajibayli International Music Festival continues with a variety of events.

As part of the festival, the next lecture-concert within the “Gems of Art” project, organized by the Scientific-Methodological and Professional Development Center for Culture (SMPC), was held on September 22 at BSU.

The event was attended by BSU Rector Elchin Babayev, the university’s faculty members, and students.

BSU Vice-Rector, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Alish Agamirzayev, and Acting Director of SMPC, PhD in Art Studies, Associate Professor Vuqar Humbatov emphasized that the Uzeyir Hajibayli International Music Festival, now in its 17th edition, has become a significant event in the cultural life of Azerbaijan. It was noted that the great composer Uzeyir Hajibayli, along with his invaluable musical and theatrical works, also made remarkable contributions to transcribing traditional oral samples into written notation, promoting Azerbaijani professional music both domestically and internationally, and advancing the development of national culture, media, and publicism.

Following the speeches, a lecture on “The Role of Uzeyir Hajibayli in the Development of Azerbaijani Compositional School” was delivered by composer, PhD in Art Studies, and Head of Department at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, Pike Akhundova.

Moderated by PhD in Art Studies and Honored Cultural Worker Saadat Tahmirazqizi, the event featured an artistic program with the participation of the C. Jahangirov Choir of the International Mugham Center (Artistic Director: Honored Teacher Tarana Yusifova), the dance group of the Baku Choreography Academy (Artistic Director: People’s Artist Yusif Gasimov), as well as students of the Uzeyir Hajibayli Baku Music Academy, the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, and the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. The performances of young artists included distinguished musical works and dance compositions by Uzeyir Hajibayli and Muslim Magomayev (1885–1937), delighting the audience and receiving warm applause.
