The Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science at Baku State University (BSU) organized a Republican scientific conference titled "Global Climate Change and the Modern Ecosystem of Azerbaijan" to commemorate the 101st anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev's birth.
The conference commenced with the rendition of the National Anthem, followed by a solemn moment of silence dedicated to the cherished memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Akif Agbabali, the dean of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science, delivered an insightful presentation highlighting the pivotal role of the esteemed National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the visionary architect and pioneer of our independent state, in shaping the modern history of Azerbaijan. He elaborated on the significant reforms initiated by Heydar Aliyev towards establishing a democratic and lawful state framework. Agbabali emphasized Heydar Aliyev's unwavering dedication to the advancement of Azerbaijan evident in his multifaceted social and political endeavors, underscoring his tireless efforts for the betterment of our nation and its people.
IDuring the initial segment of the conference, Sevinj Hajiyeva, Head of the Department of Environmental Chemistry, shed light on the invaluable contributions and environmental policies of the National Leader in safeguarding the ecological integrity of our republic. Garib Mammadov, Head of the Department of Soil Science and Real Estate Cadastre, delved into the repercussions of global climate change on soil degradation. Furthermore, Shovgi Goychayl, Professor of the Department of Geographical Ecology, provided comprehensive insights into the enduring legacy of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijan's commitment to nature conservation efforts.
The speakers underscored that under the visionary leadership of the Great Leader, Azerbaijan has charted a course towards sustainable development, fostering stability, and attaining remarkable achievements in foreign relations upon his return to political power.
During the plenary session, Mahluga Yusifova, Head of the Department of Geographical Ecology, delivered a report on the "Prospects of using alternative energy sources in Azerbaijan." Additionally, Sevinj Ahmadova, Director of the Climate Change Center at the National Hydrometeorology Service under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, presented on "Climate change impact on Azerbaijan and adaptation strategies in agriculture."
Following the plenary session, the conference proceeded with divisional meetings to further explore and discuss various topics related to the theme of the event.
