The Psychological Support Sector of Baku State University (BSU) conducted a training session for the students of Ilyas Efendiyev Elite Gymnasium.
The training, led by the sector's psychologist Natavan Hasanbayeva, focused on the topic "Student Motivation in Education." It was emphasized that motivation is a key factor influencing learning, the productivity and effectiveness of the educational process, and the success of learning activities. It was highlighted that the lack of motivation, which is considered one of the essential conditions for a systematic learning process, could lead to a decline in educational achievements. Motivation is also defined as the process that directs students towards cognitive activities, actively engaging with the content of education, through methods and tools. In modern psychological terminology, motivation is studied as a system that characterizes the process stimulating actions, behaviors, activities, and the fulfillment of needs: “The main way to achieve positive outcomes in the educational process is through the enhancement of motivation. High motivation also signifies a well-developed personality. This approach is highly relevant, as motivation plays a role as an energy source regulating human behavior. It is also regarded as the internal potential that drives a person to act towards a specific goal or activity.”
During the training, various motivation tests and interactive discussions were organized for the students.
