A series of training sessions aimed at promoting the systematic and purposeful integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into higher education teaching and research activities at Baku State University (BSU) has been successfully completed. The trainings were organized at the initiative of BSU’s Quality Assurance Center under the leadership of Asiman Ilyasov, the university rector’s advisor on quality assurance.

The main objective of the program was to emphasize the importance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, set by the United Nations, in the context of higher education, and to develop practical skills for integrating these goals into academic and research practices.

With the participation of more than 400 academic staff members, the sessions were conducted in an interactive format. The discussion-based approach encouraged active exchange of ideas and professional dialogue among participants. The sessions provided an opportunity for participants to gain a deeper understanding of sustainability and to reconsider their own activities in this direction.

Through this initiative, BSU once again demonstrated its strong commitment to applying sustainability principles in higher education and to implementing institutional strategies that address global challenges. The training program is considered a key activity within the university’s long-term strategic development priorities, aimed at effectively integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into teaching and research.
