Training session “Mysteries of History” for participants of the Summer Camp in Guba

A training session titled “Mysteries of History” was held for students and children of martyrs and veterans participating in the Summer Camp dedicated to the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty”. The event was organized by Baku State University (BSU), the Eurasian Regional Center of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF-ERC), the “BSU Volunteers” organization, and the “Amanat” Project for the Personal Development of Children of Martyrs and Veterans. The session was led by historian-researcher Araz Shahrli.

During the training, the formation stages of Azerbaijani history and major socio-political events from ancient times to the present day were analyzed through comparative approaches. At the beginning of the session, issues such as the formation of national identity, the concept of homeland, and their development throughout historical processes were widely discussed.

 

The training also provided information about the history, social structures, and domestic and foreign policies of different states that existed in the territory of Azerbaijan in various periods, including Albania, Atropatene, the Agh Goyunlu, the Gara Goyunlu, the Safavids, the Afshars, and the khanates. Comparative analysis was carried out on the works of authors who wrote about these states. Detailed information was presented on the creation of the Safavid order, its ideological foundations, and its political influence. The session also focused on the Russian invasions of Azerbaijani territories, their historical consequences, and the changes they brought to the region.

Additionally, participants were introduced to interesting historical facts about ethnonyms and toponyms, with engaging discussions on their origins and historical development.
