In Izmir, Turkey, the Ege University, Baku State University (BSU), Andijan State University of Uzbekistan, and Osh State University of Kyrgyzstan jointly organized the II International Conference on "Conservation of Eurasian Biodiversity."
The conference, held in Izmir, focused on discussing the current issues and solutions related to the conservation of Eurasian biodiversity. A total of 110 presentations from four countries were featured at the conference.
Professor Afet Mammadova, Dean of the Faculty of Biology at BSU, was a key invited speaker and presented on the topic "Bioindication and Management of the Environment Using Plants."
In addition to BSU, 23 scholars from other educational and research institutions in Azerbaijan also participated in the conference.
The international conference included presentations on topics such as the conservation of biodiversity, photosynthetic organisms, fungi, and bacteria, as well as the monitoring of aquatic ecosystems. Discussions covered problems in genetic biodiversity, new approaches to developing resistance to viruses in plants, the protection of invertebrates in Eurasia, the impact of anthropogenic effects on ecosystems, the condition of plants under climate change, and strategies for the conservation of rare plant species.
