19-12-2025

Significant projects aimed at expanding cooperation between education, science, and industry are being successfully implemented at Baku State University (BSU). One such initiative is the opening of a special classroom established with the support of Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited at the University’s Faculty of Geology.

The opening ceremony was attended by BSU Rector Elchin Babayev, President of Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited Reza Vaziri, members of the University’s leadership, academic staff of the Faculty of Geology, students, and representatives of the industry.

In his remarks, Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized the importance of developing modern infrastructure at the University, particularly the integration of specialized classrooms into the teaching process. He noted that close cooperation with industrial structures is one of the key priorities of the University’s strategic development plan. According to the Rector, the training of qualified professionals in strategically important fields such as the mining industry should not be limited to theoretical knowledge alone, but must be complemented by a modern, practice-oriented learning environment. The special classroom established through the initiative and support of Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited will play a vital role in enhancing students’ professional skills and expanding their access to international experience.

Rector Babayev also highlighted that such projects enable students to enter the future labor market as more flexible and competitive professionals, while simultaneously contributing to the development of the University’s research potential.

Speaking next, President of Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited Reza Vaziri stated that the education sector occupies a special place in the company’s corporate social responsibility strategy. He emphasized that sustainable development in the fields of geology and mining is fundamentally based on the training of knowledgeable and highly qualified specialists. Stressing the importance of increasing Azerbaijani youth’s interest in this field and familiarizing them with modern technologies, Reza Vaziri noted that the newly established special classroom is designed precisely to serve these goals.

He further added that within the framework of cooperation with BSU, the implementation of joint projects, research initiatives, and practical training programs for students is planned for the future.

As part of the event, participants toured the newly inaugurated classroom and received detailed information about its technical capabilities, educational facilities, modern presentation tools, and infrastructure suitable for delivering specialized courses.

It should be noted that the special classroom of Azerbaijan International Mining Company Limited will make a significant contribution to improving the quality of education at the Faculty of Geology, strengthening students’ theoretical knowledge with practical skills, and training highly qualified professionals for the mining industry. This initiative not only demonstrates a successful model of university–industry cooperation but also opens up broad opportunities for future development.
