On October 10, 2025, Associate Professor Sevinc Ruinten of the Department of Turkic Peoples History at Baku State University participated in the international conference titled “Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan: Literary Relations and Prospects of Cooperation”. The conference was jointly organized by the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijan Cultural Center under the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
The event brought together representatives of science, culture, and art from Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, along with scholars, university faculty members, students, and journalists. The conference was opened by the Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Professor Gulchehra Rixsiyeva, who spoke about the historical background of cooperation between the two countries and highlighted the steady development of cultural and humanitarian relations in recent years.
Among the speakers were officials and scholars from both countries, including representatives of Uzbekistan’s Committee on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots Abroad, the Turkic Studies Research Center of the university, the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan, and leading academics from Azerbaijani institutions.
Associate Professor Sevinc Ruinten delivered a presentation titled “The Place and Role of Sister Cities in the Development of Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan Cultural Relations during the Years of Independence.” Her report emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy, academic collaboration, and intercity partnerships in strengthening bilateral ties.
Following the conference, the Azerbaijani delegation held meetings with the Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and with faculty and students at the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijan Studies Center operating at the university.
