BSU announces competition for the “Young Scientist of the Year” nomination

Baku State University (BSU) announces a competition for the “Young Scientist of the Year” nomination dedicated to February 2 – Azerbaijan Youth Day.

The purpose of the annually held competition is to reward BSU master’s students, doctoral candidates, and staff members under the age of 35 who have demonstrated active scientific performance during the year, achieved high scientific results, published articles in reputable impact-factor journals indexed in internationally recognized databases, received citations for their research, and distinguished themselves through significant scientific and organizational activity.

Awards

Winners of the competition will be awarded the title “Young Scientist of the Year”, along with a diploma and a cash prize in the following two categories:

  • Natural, Exact, and Technical Sciences – 1 award (AZN 2,000)

  • Humanities and Social Sciences – 1 award (AZN 2,000)

Submitted applications will be evaluated based on established criteria, with specific weight assigned to each indicator.

Eligibility Requirements (for 2025)

  • Natural, Exact, and Technical Sciences: at least one article published in journals indexed in Web of Science and/or Scopus;

  • Humanities and Social Sciences: at least one article published in journals indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, ERIH PLUS, Philosopher’s Index, Copernicus, Ulakbim, PsycINFO, EconLit, or other reputable international indexing databases.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit:

  • Articles published in 2025 (PDF format with DOI and web link);

  • Monographs, books, atlases, and reviews published in 2025 (PDF);

  • Patents and inventions obtained in 2025;

  • Citation statistics for 2025 (excluding self-citations), including H-index and links to Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar profiles;

  • Information on multidisciplinary and applied research;

  • Participation in national and international scientific conferences, symposiums, and events (including online);

  • National and international grants obtained in 2025;

  • Teaching activities carried out in 2025;

  • Science popularization activities, media appearances, public lectures, and interviews;

  • Links to personal professional profiles (ResearchGate, Mendeley, Academia, Google Scholar, LinkedIn, etc.).

Application Period

  • Applications will be accepted starting 6 January 2026;

  • Deadline for submission: 26 January 2026, 17:00.
