An employee of Baku State University (BSU), Qasım Khalilov — a referent at the Rector’s Office — participated as a speaker in the panel titled “Sustainable Development Goals: Joint Action for Targets” held within the framework of the “EcoMind 2025” conference on November 2. The event was jointly organized by the IDEA Public Union and the European Azerbaijan School.
During the opening ceremony, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of IDEA Public Union, Leyla Aliyeva, emphasized the importance of youth engagement in ecological initiatives and highlighted their responsibility in environmental protection. She noted that raising environmentally conscious students is essential for ensuring the country’s green future.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Minister of Agriculture Məcnun Məmmədov, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Kənan Kərimzadə, Member of Parliament Mehriban Vəliyeva, founder of the European Azerbaijan School Tale Heydərov, and founder of the “Think In” organization Rajiv Nandha.
In his panel speech, Qasım Khalilov discussed the application of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in society and education, presenting statistics and indicators reflecting the role of Azerbaijani educational institutions — including BSU — in advancing the SDGs. He also highlighted youth contributions in three specific SDGs: Goal 4 “Quality Education,” Goal 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,” and Goal 17 “Partnerships for the Goals.”
