BSU examines pedagogical and socio-psychological aspects of library and information services
22-10-2025

A scientific seminar titled “Pedagogical and Socio-Psychological Aspects of Library and Information Services” was held at the Faculty of Information and Document Management of Baku State University (BSU). The presentation was delivered by Vafa Mammadova, PhD student of the Department of Library and Information Resources Management and staff member of ADA University Library.

The report discussed modern requirements for library and information services, emerging paradigms in the field, and the role of library specialists as educators. It also explored the socio-psychological aspects of communication with readers. It was emphasized that today’s library professionals must not only possess high qualifications, research skills, and competence in ICT, but also understand the pedagogical and socio-psychological nature of library services.

It was noted that the importance of these aspects is reflected in several key documents regulating the field: library professionals must provide the highest level of service to all users, ensure an equal-access service policy, and respond to all inquiries accurately, impartially, and courteously. Vafa Mammadova stressed that considering pedagogical and socio-psychological factors in service delivery helps establish a new system of interaction between libraries and information users, reinforcing the role of libraries as dynamic social institutions in the information society.

The seminar concluded with discussions, during which participants addressed questions to the speaker.
