Baku State University (BSU) hosted a scientific-educational event titled “Multidisciplinary Approach to Drug Addiction”, organized by the Student Youth Organization of the Faculty of Biology.
Yusif Abiyev, Deputy Dean for Social Affairs of the Faculty of Biology, highlighted the importance of strengthening preventive measures against drug addiction among young people and emphasized the value of combining scientific, social, and educational approaches in this field.
Professor Kamil Salimov, Head of the Department of Criminalistics and Forensic Expertise of the Faculty of Law, spoke about legal mechanisms to combat the illicit circulation of narcotic substances, the existing legislative framework, and the role of public legal awareness. He noted that improving legal literacy among youth is a key component of combating drug abuse.
Narcologist Araz Aliguliyev provided detailed information on the effects of narcotic substances on the human body, stages of addiction, treatment methods, and the challenges of rehabilitation. Drawing from real clinical experience, he encouraged young people to prioritize a healthy lifestyle.
Emilya Igidova, Lecturer at the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology, discussed the psychological causes of drug dependence, its impact on personality formation, and the influence of family and environmental factors. She stressed the need for psychological support programs in schools and universities to build resilience among youth.
One of the event’s guests, Polad Aga Ibrahimov, Director of the Caucasus Experimental Drama Theater, spoke about the role of cultural environments in maintaining moral well-being. He emphasized that theater, creativity, and social responsibility are powerful tools in the fight against drug addiction.
During the event, an educational video highlighting the harmful consequences of drug abuse was screened, and students performed a short play titled “The Devil’s Game.”
The event concluded with discussions among participants on the issues covered.
