BSU introduces three new master’s specializations at the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science

Beginning with the 2026/2027 academic year, Baku State University (BSU) will introduce three new master’s specializations at its Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science: Environmental Expertise, Environmental Management, and Real Estate Cadastre and Registry. The programs have been developed to meet the evolving demands of the labor market and prepare highly qualified professionals in environmental and land management.

The Environmental Expertise specialization focuses on environmental protection, sustainable management of natural resources, environmental safety, and environmental impact assessment of economic activities. Students will study subjects such as environmental impact assessment (EIA), strategic environmental assessment (SEA), environmental planning, environmental law, environmental auditing, environmental monitoring, environmental standards, and the assessment of anthropogenic impacts. The program also provides practical training in environmental risk analysis, expert reporting, monitoring systems, environmental legislation, and project management. Graduates will be qualified for careers in government agencies, environmental protection organizations, monitoring and laboratory centers, industrial enterprises, consulting firms, research institutes, universities, and international environmental projects.

The Environmental Management specialization is designed to prepare professionals capable of balancing economic development with environmental sustainability. Its curriculum includes environmental management and sustainable development, environmental impact assessment, environmental monitoring and modeling, waste management, environmental marketing, environmental auditing and insurance, green technologies, the green economy, environmental innovation, and environmental project financing. Students will develop practical skills in environmental management systems, certification, risk management, information technologies, and regulatory compliance. Graduates will be equipped to work in public institutions, municipalities, environmental consulting and auditing companies, industrial enterprises, universities, research organizations, international institutions, and the corporate sector as environmental managers, sustainability specialists, auditors, project coordinators, and researchers.

The Real Estate Cadastre and Registry specialization focuses on cadastral systems, land administration, and the management of digital spatial data. Students will study land-use planning, land management, soil cartography, land and urban cadastre, real estate economics, urban planning, agricultural information management, and cadastral systems. The program places particular emphasis on supporting industrial and infrastructure development in the East Zangezur and Karabakh economic regions through land selection, spatial planning, cadastral database development, land valuation, and digital transformation. Graduates will be prepared for careers in the State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy, the State Register of Real Estate, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos), renewable energy organizations, and international development projects.

The introduction of these three specializations reflects BSU’s commitment to educating professionals capable of addressing modern challenges in environmental protection, sustainable development, digital governance, and land administration while strengthening Azerbaijan’s highly skilled workforce.
