Baku State University (BSU) will launch Azerbaijan's first master's specialization in Biomedical Materials at the Faculty of Biology beginning in the 2026/2027 academic year.
Biomedical materials represent a rapidly developing interdisciplinary field combining biology, biotechnology, materials science, and medicine. The new program responds to growing global demand for specialists in biomaterials, regenerative medicine, implant technologies, biosensors, and other innovative healthcare solutions.
Developed in line with the practices of leading international universities, the curriculum will provide students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the design, synthesis, analysis, and biomedical applications of advanced materials. Students will conduct research in BSU's modern laboratories, gain hands-on experience with advanced scientific equipment, participate in international research projects and collaboration programs, and prepare for doctoral studies.
Graduates will be qualified to pursue careers in research institutes, universities, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, medical device and biomaterial manufacturing enterprises, clinical laboratories, diagnostic centers, and public and private innovation projects. They will also have opportunities to continue their education through national and international doctoral programs.
The introduction of the new master's specialization is expected to strengthen Azerbaijan's scientific capacity in biology and biotechnology, promote the development of innovative medical technologies, and prepare highly qualified professionals capable of meeting the evolving demands of the healthcare and biotechnology sectors.
