Baku State University (BSU) will introduce a new master's specialization in International Security at its Faculty of International Relations and Economics beginning in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The program is designed to prepare highly qualified specialists in global and regional security, international conflict analysis, national security policy, and the assessment of contemporary security challenges. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and analytical skills required to address complex security issues in an evolving international environment.
The curriculum will cover international security theories, geopolitical developments, conflict prevention and resolution, regional security systems, energy and cybersecurity, the role of international organizations in maintaining peace and security, and global risk assessment. Students will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies through research activities and analytical projects focused on current security challenges.
The specialization seeks to develop professionals capable of evaluating global political processes and contributing to the formulation and implementation of security policies within government institutions and international organizations.
Graduates will be prepared for careers in government agencies, diplomatic services, international organizations, policy and research institutes, security and strategic studies centers, as well as private-sector organizations specializing in security and risk management.
The introduction of the new master's specialization is expected to strengthen Azerbaijan's expertise in international security and strategic studies, enhance national security capacity, and prepare professionals capable of responding effectively to emerging global challenges.
