An event dedicated to International Mother Earth Day was organized at Baku State University on the initiative of members of the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC) of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science.
Opening the event, Shukufa Sattarova spoke about the significance of International Mother Earth Day and emphasized that such initiatives play an important role in strengthening environmental awareness and responsibility among young people.
The event continued with a presentation by Gismet Khanbabayev, who discussed the protection and sustainable use of the Earth’s soil resources, as well as contemporary challenges facing this field. He highlighted the crucial role of soil in maintaining ecological balance and supporting sustainable development.
Later, Turkan Mammadova delivered a presentation on the geographical characteristics of the Earth, landscape systems, mapping methods, and the growing importance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies in modern environmental and spatial studies.
As part of the event, students participated in a greening campaign on the university campus, planting various flowers and ornamental plants. The activity demonstrated their commitment to environmental values and their contribution to protecting and improving the natural environment.
