An open lecture was organized for students of Baku State University (BSU) by the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day, observed annually on March 15.
During the event, students were provided with comprehensive information on the legal, economic, and social foundations of consumer rights protection. The mechanisms for safeguarding these rights within the framework of existing legislation were also explained.
A specialist from the Humanitarian Issues and Youth Policy Department of BSU, Alakbar Hasanov, introduced students to the main areas of activity of the Agency and spoke about joint initiatives implemented between BSU and the Agency.
Deputy heads of the Agency’s departments, Azad Mammadov and Samir Aliyev, delivered presentations on “Fundamental Consumer Rights and Their Protection Mechanisms.” Their presentations covered key legal instruments for protecting consumer rights, the organization of state supervision in this field, and legislative requirements.
Participants were also informed about preventive measures aimed at reducing violations in the consumer market, as well as the Agency’s ongoing initiatives. It was emphasized that increasing consumers’ legal awareness plays a vital role in fostering fair market relations and preventing legal infringements.
The interactive session included real-life case examples, and students’ questions were addressed.
