BSU students informed about modern geophysical research methods in mineral deposit exploration
20-10-2025

An informative training session titled “The Role of Innovative Geophysical Research Methods in the Exploration and Prospecting of Mineral Deposits and the Stages of Geological Investigation” was held through the joint organization of the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC) and the Student Scientific Society (SSS) of the Faculty of Geology at Baku State University (BSU).

The aim of the training was to strengthen students’ practical application of theoretical knowledge in geological sciences and to enhance their understanding of innovative research methods and modern geophysical techniques used in the exploration of mineral deposits.

Elfaq Mammadov, Lead Specialist of the Geological-Geophysical Data Analysis Sector of the Geological Exploration Department of "AzerGold" CJSC, and Amina Mammadova, Specialist of the HR Business Partnership Sector of the Human Resources Management Department, provided detailed information on the role of geophysical research in identifying mineral resources, innovative technologies applied in geological exploration, as well as modern equipment and software tools. They also emphasized the importance of geophysical data analysis, geological factors to consider during data interpretation, and the strategic significance of training specialized personnel in this field.

During the training, students were introduced to the main stages of geological exploration — initial prospecting, evaluation, exploration, and pre-exploitation preparation. The speakers discussed the types of geophysical measurements conducted at these stages (magnetometry, seismic, gravimetry, and electromagnetic methods) and the principles of analyzing collected data.

At the event, students asked questions about career opportunities in geology, pathways for professional development, and internship and development programs for young specialists at "AzerGold" CJSC. The guests responded to students’ inquiries, sharing their professional experiences, insights into real working conditions in the field, and guidance on building a successful career.
