At Baku State University (BSU), continuous efforts are being made to align the content and quality of education with international standards and to enhance its global competitiveness through double degree programs with several leading universities worldwide.
One of these ongoing projects is the joint double degree program at the master's level in “Petroleum Chemistry” between BSU and Satbayev Kazakh National Research Technical University (KazNRTU). The aim of the project is to train specialists with comprehensive knowledge in petroleum and gas chemistry, fuels, and technically significant substances derived from natural hydrocarbon resources, who possess modern thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply them in practice.
It should be noted that KazNRTU provides high-level undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in petroleum chemistry and chemical engineering. The university ranks 331st in the QS World University Rankings and 64th in the QS EECA Rankings, and it operates 114 teaching and research laboratories. Satbayev University collaborates with 174 leading higher education institutions and 450 prominent companies worldwide.
Based on the cooperation agreement on the double degree program between BSU and KazNRTU, two graduates were trained in the 2022/2023 academic year. Currently, the collaboration under this program is ongoing.
For instance, Günel Rüstəmli, a master’s student in the “Petroleum Chemistry” specialization at the Faculty of Chemistry, Department of Petroleum Chemistry and Chemical Technology at KazNRTU, and Aidana Iskander, a master’s student from Satbayev University at BSU, are continuing their education and conducting scientific research on their dissertation topics under this program.
