An event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly Massacre was organized by the Student Youth Organization of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science at Baku State University.
The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs and the victims of the Khojaly tragedy.
During the event, Gismet Khanbabayev, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Soil Science and Real Estate Cadastre and PhD in Agricultural Sciences, and second-year student Shahla Abdullayeva spoke about the causes and consequences of the Khojaly genocide, the legal and political assessment of the tragedy, and the efforts undertaken to raise international awareness of the events. They also discussed historical acts of violence committed against the Azerbaijani people and emphasized that the Khojaly tragedy remains one of the most devastating episodes.
At the conclusion of the event, second-year student Deniz Zeynalli recited the poem “Khojaly,” dedicated to the victims of the tragedy.
The event served as an opportunity to commemorate the victims and reflect on the historical significance of the Khojaly tragedy.
