Baku State University (BSU), through the initiative of the “BSU Volunteers” organization, held the first session of the “Urban Talks” project titled “Towards WUF13: Urbanization and Innovation.”
BSU staff member and project leader Mirhüseyn Tağıyev provided participants with detailed information on key urbanization concepts, the historical development stages of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and the global significance of past World Urban Forums.
The session covered the main objectives and expectations of the 13th session of the UN-Habitat World Urban Forum (WUF13), highlighting its strategic importance as Azerbaijan prepares to host the Forum. Discussions included BSU’s initiatives in urbanization and sustainable city development, as well as the country’s ongoing reforms in this sector.
Participants were also briefed on the WUF13 volunteer program and other opportunities for youth, with guidance on how young people can actively contribute to urban planning processes.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where participants’ questions were addressed.
