An intellectual competition was organized by the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of Chemistry on the occasion of 27 March – Science Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event aimed to contribute to the development of the university’s scientific environment, increase students’ interest in science, and reveal their intellectual potential. The competition focused on enhancing scientific knowledge, developing analytical and logical thinking skills, broadening students’ perspectives, and strengthening their interest in chemistry. It also sought to promote healthy competition, teamwork, and active engagement in scientific activities.
A total of five teams participated in the competition: Quantum Team, Chemists, Engineers, Super Nova, and Torrent. The teams consisted of students from different academic years who demonstrated a high level of preparation and knowledge throughout the event. Participants worked collaboratively, showcasing both their individual expertise and their collective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
The competition consisted of two rounds. The first round featured general knowledge questions covering history, science, culture, geography, and other fields. The second round focused specifically on chemistry and included questions related to organic and inorganic chemistry, chemical reactions, the periodic table of elements, laboratory practices, and the history of chemistry.
Throughout the competition, teams displayed strong engagement and teamwork while working under time constraints. Participants actively exchanged ideas and collaborated to find correct answers, creating an exciting and dynamic atmosphere.
Following a closely contested competition, the Torrent team achieved the highest score and was declared the winner. The winning team was awarded certificates in recognition of its outstanding performance. The other teams were also acknowledged and thanked for their active participation.
At the conclusion of the event, participants and organizers emphasized the importance of such intellectual competitions in fostering students’ interest in scientific activities. They noted that these events help develop not only theoretical knowledge but also critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
It was also announced that similar scientific and intellectual events will continue to be organized in the future to further encourage students’ engagement in science and support the development of their academic potential.
