Sustainable Development Goals at Baku State University.

The III International Scientific Conference titled “Conservation of Eurasian Biodiversity: Contemporary Challenges, Solutions and Prospects” was held on 16–18 October 2025 at the Karakalpak Scientific Research Institute of Natural Sciences in Nukus, Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic, Republic of Uzbekistan.

The conference was jointly organized by Andijan State University (Uzbekistan), Ege University (Türkiye), and Baku State University (Azerbaijan). The primary objective of the event was to strengthen scientific cooperation across Eurasia, particularly among Turkic states, to revive research traditions, and to promote the development of new scientific approaches to biodiversity conservation.

Baku State University was represented by Professor Rovshan Khalilov, Head of the Department of Biophysics and Biochemistry at the Faculty of Biology. In his plenary presentation, Professor Khalilov addressed research conducted by Azerbaijani scientists in the field of biodiversity conservation and highlighted the importance of international scientific cooperation and exchange of experience. He also chaired sectional sessions of the conference and held meetings with representatives of scientific institutions from Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, reaching agreements on the establishment of new collaborative partnerships.

The conference was also attended by Professor Gulnara Azizova, Head of the Department of Biological Chemistry at Azerbaijan Medical University.

Extensive discussions were conducted within the framework of the conference on topics including biodiversity conservation in Eurasia, sustainable use of flora and fauna, ecosystem restoration, protection of rare and endangered species, as well as the application of modern methods of environmental monitoring and assessment.

The Organizing Committee decided that the IV International Scientific Conference will be held in October 2026 at Baku State University.
