An international forum titled “The History of Teaching the Arabic Language in the Caucasus and Central Asia” has been held at Baku State University (BSU).
At the initiative of the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, August 2025 was declared the “Month of the Arabic Language” in Azerbaijan. Within this framework, BSU organized the international forum dedicated to discussing the historical development of Arabic language education in the Caucasus and Central Asia.
The forum was jointly organized by BSU and the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language. Representatives from several regional universities also participated in the event, including Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Kazakhstan, Bishkek State University in Kyrgyzstan, Tajik National University in Tajikistan, and Tbilisi State University in Georgia.
The main objective of the forum was to discuss the history and development trends of Arabic language teaching in the Caucasus and Central Asia, strengthen inter-university cooperation, and establish new scientific and cultural partnerships.
During the discussions, representatives from participating countries presented the history of Arabic language education at their respective universities, highlighting achievements and current practices in the field. Within the Azerbaijani context, speakers emphasized the traditions and modern approaches to Arabic language education at BSU. Presentations from regional universities also highlighted the role of the Arabic language in advancing scientific and cultural cooperation.
The forum emphasized that Arabic is not only a means of communication but also serves as a cultural bridge and a platform for academic collaboration among nations. Speakers also noted the importance of further strengthening humanitarian relations between the Arab world and countries of Azerbaijan and Central Asia.
At the conclusion of the forum, participating universities agreed to expand cooperation through joint research projects, student and faculty exchange programs, international conferences, and collaborative educational initiatives in the future.
