An event dedicated to International Women’s Day was held at Baku State University (BSU).
Vice-Rector for Social Affairs, Student Affairs and Public Relations, Alish Agamirzayev, congratulated all women, including female staff and students of the University, on the occasion. In his remarks, he highlighted the historical resilience and active participation of Azerbaijani women in the country’s socio-political and cultural life, as well as their contributions to state-building and national development.
He emphasized that Azerbaijan was the first country in the East to grant women the right to vote and be elected, underlining the long-standing respect for women’s role in society. He also noted that Azerbaijani women continue to play an active role in shaping the future of the country and representing it with dignity on international platforms. The life and activities of Mehriban Aliyeva were highlighted as an exemplary model for women.
It was further noted that women constitute 68% of BSU’s student body and nearly 62% of its staff, reflecting their significant contribution to the advancement of education and science at the University.
Speakers at the event, including Arzu Naghiyev, Sevinc Fatalieva, and Professor Matanat Abdullayeva, spoke about the high level of attention and support given to women in Azerbaijan and expressed their wishes for peace and prosperity.
At the end of the event, the University’s Student Trade Union Committee presented flowers to female staff members and students.
