Launch of the Next Phase of the “Euronews Academy” international training programme at BSU
11-11-2025

The next phase of the “Euronews Academy” international training programme, dedicated to “TV and Live Journalism,” has been launched at Baku State University (BSU) within the framework of cooperation between the Media Development Agency (MEDIA) and one of Europe’s leading news networks, Euronews.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Fernando Soares, Euronews’ Executive Director for Baku, emphasized that the “live journalism” format represents a new-generation media practice built on direct engagement with audiences and enhanced participatory principles. He noted that this training programme enables journalists to refine their ability to present live events with factual accuracy and balanced emotional impact. It was underlined that such initiatives play an important role in strengthening trust in the information space and ensuring sustained public interest.

Deputy Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, Natiq Mammadli, stressed that in today’s media environment, further improving the quality indicators of television journalism and integrating new technological trends is of particular importance. He added that international cooperation projects of this kind contribute to the professional development of young journalists and the alignment of national TV content with international standards, while at the same time supporting the sustainable development of the media sector.

The four-day training programme began at MEDIA’s dedicated auditorium at BSU with the topic “Preparation of Television News, TV Reports and Live Broadcasts.” Participants engaged in practical sessions led by Bojan Brkić, Head of the Euronews Astana Bureau, an experienced broadcast journalist and media executive. The sessions covered the preparation of news segments, structuring materials for broadcast and managing live connections.

The training process continued with interactive lectures, practical assignments, group discussions and analysis of television news reports.

It should be noted that the programme will continue until November 14.
