At Baku State University, a meeting with poet, translator, and People’s Poet Vahid Aziz was organized by the “BSU Volunteers” organization. Volunteers from member organizations of the Azerbaijan Volunteer Organizations Union also attended the event.
The meeting coincided with the fifth anniversary of the historic victory in Karabakh. Alish Agamirzayev emphasized that Azerbaijan is both a heroic and creative nation, highlighting that Azerbaijani literature has always celebrated its poets and writers who promote human values, noble feelings, and love for the homeland. The meeting aimed to inspire the younger generation to uphold these ideals.
The Faculty of Information and Document Management’s dean, Alemdar Jabbarli, spoke about Vahid Aziz’s life and literary career, noting his birth in 1945 in Paşalar, Dereləyaz, Western Azerbaijan, his education at the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute, and his subsequent literary and public service contributions. His poems often focus on themes of love, and many have been set to music. He was awarded the honorary title of People’s Poet by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan.
Vahid Aziz expressed gratitude to BSU leadership and students, recited his poem “Mubarikdir!” celebrating the victory, and performed other beloved poems. Students actively engaged, asking questions, while musical performances of his poetry were presented by BSU’s Culture and Creativity Center.
Finally, Elchin Babayev thanked Vahid Aziz for his participation, noting such events as memorable highlights of student life.
